Black Diamond Cup, the oldest trophy still in use in Australian sport, up for grabs in Newcastle

In the middle of rugby league heartland, a trophy for a rival football code has survived to become the oldest piece of sporting silverware still contested annually in Australia.
A local tobacco company donated the Black Diamond Cup to the Newcastle Australian Rules Football competition in 1887.
