Bitcoin ‘money mule’ sentenced over malware scam

The syndicate targeted Australians, put malware on their computers to steal money from their bank accounts and then transferred it to “mules” before they were ordered to trade it into cryptocurrency Bitcoin and send it offshore. The syndicate hired money mules through web ads including Seek and other online platforms.
