Big Tesla battery to fire up NSW energy transition – The Australian Financial Review
A large storage system to be installed in western Sydney using Tesla’s lithium-ion Megapacks should help with grid stability as coal power generation reduces.
“Our arrangement allows Infigen to sell more clean energy to customers and allows TransGrid to improve the strength of the network in Australia,” said Ross Rolfe, chief executive of Infigen, which is now controlled by Spanish energy giant Iberdrola after a takeover battle earlier this year.
The battery, announced earlier on Friday by Energy Minister Angus Taylor and NSW Energy Minister Matt Kean, will have a capacity of 50 megawatts and 75 megawatt-hours.
