BHP bins another Olympic Dam plan – The Australian Financial Review
BHP has revealed another pivot in its long running efforts to find an economic way to expand Olympic Dam, as iron ore exports remained strong.

BHP was originally supposed to take a final investment decision on BFX this year, but the schedule was pushed out in 2019 when BHP revealed BFX may not be as attractive as first thought because the Olympic Dam geology was not as “contiguous” as previously believed.
On Tuesday, BHP signalled that it would pursue debottlenecking instead of BFX after more drilling demonstrated the geology was not suited to the plan.
