The world needs a COVID-19 vaccine, and the number of projects underway to develop one is astounding. Currently, 45 coronavirus vaccine candidates are in human trials, and 11 of those are have reached phase 3, when the vital questions of whether they work in the real world — and if so, how well — will be answered.
