Benji’s back: Maguire recalls veteran from selection wilderness – NRL.COM
Benji Marshall will make his return to the NRL on Friday against South Sydney after four weeks on the sidelines following Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire’s decision to drop him due to defensive problems.
Wests Tigers co-captain Benji Marshall will make his first appearance in a month after being restored Michael Maguire’s bench against South Sydney.
Marshall will take up a utility role for the joint-venture against his former coach Wayne Bennett, with Josh Reynolds and Luke Brooks to be retained as the Tigers starting halves.
The 35-year-old club icon hasn’t been sighted in first grade since round four, when Maguire swung the axe following an underwhelming loss to the Gold Coast.

Marshall’s demotion prompted concerns over his future at the club, prompting both the Tigers veteran and Maguire to deny he would be forced out, while a decision on whether he plays on in 2021 is still yet to be made.
