Mr Beament said the price was still strong at about $2500 an ounce, a level that would have had him “popping champagne corks” along with Saracen managing director Raleigh Finlayson at this time last year.
“It is a fantastic price already but still longer term gold is in a great position,” he told a business breakfast in Perth.
“It will rebound very, very hard when people turn their attention to how we are going to pay for this.”
