Barwon Health on standby as Colac cases top 50 – Bay 93.9
Barwon Health is standing by to assist as coronavirus cases in the Colac-Otway shire continue to climb.
Colac now has 50 active cases – the highest number in regional Victoria – after three more were added in the last 24 hours.
However experts say the time taken to turn virus tests around means the real number is likely to be closer to 60.
Almost all are linked to the town’s abattoir, where 700 workers are currently undergoing testing.
Colac Hospital does not have an intensive care unit, meaning any serious cases need to be transferred to Geelong.
