Bali bombing survivor Jake Ryan’s funeral capped at 100 due to COVID restrictions
The family of a Gold Coast man who survived the 2002 Bali bombings but died in a freak accident while on holiday in Italy says COVID-19 restrictions mean his memorial will be a shell of what they’d hoped.
Jake Ryan, 39, was jogging in Noto, on the island of Sicily, when he was fatally hit by a train.
His death came almost 18 years to the day he survived the 2002 Bali bombings.
A former AFL player and local hero, Ryan was well-known to many people on the Gold Coast.
