Bakery giant Cripps rejects union pay deal for Tasmanian workers
Workers at Tasmania’s largest factory bakery are rising up against a wage offer they say is incompatible with the cost of living.
Key points:
- Cripps said its latest pay offer would provide employees with greater access to penalty rates, meaning no employee would be worse off
- The union said Cripps had offered workers a 10 per cent pay rise over the past three years, but delivered only 2.5pc after the agreement was thrown out by Fair Work following a dispute over penalties
- Employees are now asking for a 13 per cent pay rise, but Cripps says the proposal is “unsustainable”
