The state’s poultry owners have been warned to keep their birds inside as agriculture officials detect a second strain of avian influenza.

Agriculture Victoria has confirmed a second strain of bird flu in Victoria after turkeys on two farms test positive.
It comes after health experts detected the highly pathogenic avian influenza in two Golden Plains birds last week.
Highly pathogenic strains cause severe disease and high death rates among poultry.
The low pathogenic H5N2 strain causes less severe illness in birds by comparison.
