Authorities reveal safety failures by boatie rescued from beacon off Sunshine Coast
A Queensland boatie’s failure to undertake crucial maritime safety measures before he was rescued from a marine beacon should serve as a “lesson”, authorities say.
David Simpson, 64, was found off the Sunshine Coast after falling from his vessel which ended up running aground on Tuesday afternoon.
He spent about four hours on the beacon after falling into the water while trying to re-tie a rope in rough weather.
