Australians stuck overseas amid the coronavirus pandemic face lengthy delays getting back home. For some the costly journey causes financial strain, while for others being thousands of miles away is taking its toll on their mental health.

When the coronavirus pandemic first hit in March, Natalie Gatz was 27-weeks pregnant with twin boys, thousands of kilometres away from home in San Francisco.
After Prime Minister Scott Morrison called for Australians abroad to come home if they had planned to, Ms Gatz said she was told her twins could be delivered at any moment and it wasn’t safe for her to travel.
