Australian shares are set to begin their day modestly lower after Wall Street fell from its record highs.
ASX futures were down 32 points (-0.5pc) to 7,017, by 8:25am AEST.
The Australian dollar had risen(+0.3pc) to 77.6 US cents, as the greenback dropped to a six-week low.
“The market has had a huge jump to the upside so it needs to take a little bit of rest,” said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Spartan Capital Securities in New York.
