Australian retail sales jump, with Victorians spending more as coronavirus restrictions ease

Australia’s economy is showing further signs of recovery as consumers, especially pandemic-weary Victorians, start spending their lockdown savings.

Bureau of Statistics (ABS) retail figures showed sales lifted sharply to $29.6 billion in October, up 1.4 per cent compared to the previous month.

The figures also revealed that October sales had surged (+7.1pc) over the previous 12 months.
