Growing evidence linking vitamin D deficiency in pregnant women to autism in their children has been described as a “vital public health priority” by Australian researchers.
Scientist from the University of Queensland Brain Institute are among those leading research into the suspected link.
Their latest study has detailed “good evidence” linking neonatal vitamin D deficiency with an increased risk of neurodevelopmental disorders, such as schizophrenia and autism.
