Professor Kidd said Australia had strong disease controls in place, with high testing numbers, swift contact tracing and mandatory hotel quarantine for returning overseas travellers.
In response to the emergence of new variants overseas, whole genome sequencing on all positive cases in Australia has been prioritised, he said.
