Australia rolled the dice on their star opener on Thursday and it didn’t pay off, although it could have been worse.

The senior member of Australia’s new opening partnership managed only five runs in his brief stay, however, and while he avoided re-injuring the groin according to a team spokesman, his departure may not have been unrelated to it.
