At one stage Nathan Lyon wasn’t even the No.1 spinner on the SACA ground staff, now he is the best in the world.
He was offered a job making cricket pitches at Adelaide Oval and headed westish with his cricket ambition limited to having fun bowling on the weekends. Fortunately, he was asked to bowl at the national team in a practice session and the rest is folklore. Within 12 months of leaving Canberra, he was playing for his country.
Not much has changed for him since then and, of course, everything has changed.
