Aust shares slip after jobless rate rise – Yahoo Finance Australia
The local bourse has finished down 0.7 per cent amid a surge in virus cases in Victoria and the unemployment rate hitting 7.4 per cent.
The Australian share market has closed lower as Victoria reported the most coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic and the country’s unemployment rate hit a two-decade high.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index finished Thursday down 42 points, or 0.69 per cent, to 6,010.9, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 37.4 points, or 0.61 per cent lower, at 6,123.
