ASX zig-zagging; Newcrest glitters; Telstra, CBA, miners lift – The Sydney Morning Herald
The ASX 200 has endured a volatile session as investors digest earnings reports. The miners and Telstra were higher, while CBA also rose.

The $20 billion miner also expects full-year gold production to be towards the upper end of its previously stated guidance range of 1.95 million and 2.15 million ounces.
RBC analyst Paul Kaner said the Newcrest result beat the banks earnings and underlying profit estimates, as higher revenues combined with slightly lower operating costs more than offset the higher tax paid.
