Asteroid 2020 QG narrowly passes by Earth, the closest known ‘flyby’ of a space object – 7NEWS.com.au
The space rock’s path was bent by the earth’s atmosphere and scientists only detected it once it had flown by.

An asteroid roughly the size of an SUV has whizzed past Earth at a distance of about 2945km.
The event at the weekend was the closest-ever known encounter with such a space object, NASA and Pasadena-based Jet Propulsion Laboratory announced on Tuesday.
Its really cool to see a small asteroid come by this close, because we can see the Earths gravity dramatically bend its trajectory, Paul Chodas, director of the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies at JPL, said in a statement.
