Ash Barty defends Karolína Muchová’s use of medical timeout in Australian Open quarter-final loss

Ash Barty has said Karolína Muchová had every right to take a medical timeout during their Australian Open quarter-final, but acknowledged it was a “massive turning point” in her loss to the Czech 25th seed.

The world number one exited the tournament courtesy of the 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 defeat to Muchová, despite being in a dominant position when she led 2-1 early in the second set with a service break in hand.

Play was halted at this point, when Muchová left the Rod Laver Arena court for treatment and a medical timeout, and the course…
