Arona Peniamina wins High Court bid for new trial after being sentenced to life in prison for murdering his wife Sandra

A man sentenced to life in jail for stabbing and bludgeoning his wife to death in 2016 has been granted a new trial in the High Court.

Sandra Peniamina died after her husband, Arona Peniamina, attacked her with “sustained ferocity” with a piece of concrete, the court heard at the time.
Mr Peniamina, who did not deny killing his wife, argued he should be convicted of manslaughter, not murder.
