Are N95 Masks Helpful for Wildfire Smoke? – The New York Times

Although they are effective in filtering out particles from smoke, the valves let the wearers breath escape the mask, thus posing a risk for spreading Covid-19. If the mask contains an exhalation valve, she said you should wear a surgical mask over it.
