Apple patent application imagines charging cables that might not fray so easily – The Verge
Apple is apparently working on some ideas on how to make its cables more durable, having filed a patent application for a “Cable with Variable Stiffness.”
Theyd also be a uniform thickness instead of having a raised sleeve on the end

Apples charging cables arent exactly known for their durability. They often fray after a year or two and can even break down to the point where they wont charge your device at all. (Ive also noticed they can turn an increasingly sour shade of yellow.)
