Another pub closes in Sydney as patron tests positive for COVID-19 – ABC News

A third pub in Sydney’s south-west has been closed for cleaning after a patron tested positive for coronavirus.

The Macarthur Tavern in Campbelltown confirmed it had been notified of the positive test and said in a Facebook post it was “working closely with NSW Health”.
The pub is closed for cleaning this morning, and plans to reopen at 3:00pm.
The infected patron was at the venue on Saturday, July 11 between 9:00pm and 12:00am.
The other pubs in Sydney’s south-west that have closed due to coronavirus concerns are the Crossroads Hotel and Picton Hotel.
“Our patron’s safety is of utmost concern during these difficult times,” the tavern said in a social media post.
“We have had strict procedure in place to prevent and control the spread of this virus and these procedures will continue to be put into action.”

Wests League Club at Campbelltown also closed for cleaning last night after a person who had tested positive visited the club on Friday and Sunday.
NSW Health advised that the infected person visited on Friday evening at 8:00pm and then on Sunday morning between 12:00am and 2:30am, the club said.

It plans to reopen at midday today after a deep clean.
Thousands of people are expected to turn out for testing again today, as the number of cases continues to rise in the Crossroads Hotel cluster at Casula, 40km from Sydney’s CBD.
Authorities have traced the first cases to the hotel on July 3 and 4, and since then infection has spread to several businesses around Sydney.

There are currently 30 confirmed cases in the outbreak, and a number of nearby venues have been temporarily closed including the Picton Hotel and Planet Fitness gym.
Two more cases have been recorded at Planet Fitness after a person who visited the hotel went to the gym anyone who was there between July 4 and 10 should be tested and go into self-isolation.
Prestons Lodge aged care facility is also currently in lockdown after an infected person visited a relative there.
