This was not exceptional. This is most days in most EDs in our state.
It was completely the opposite of a safe, physically distanced environment. These were the sickest, most vulnerable people in our community who had come to us for help.
We were exposing them to delays in receiving definitive care, and now the added risk of catching a dangerous virus. This is happening every day. Why? What is causing this problem?
