After months of watching from the sidelines, Team New Zealand wasted no time in getting their first win for the year, beating Luna Rossa comfortably in the opening race of the America’s Cup match – despite a late mishap, when helmsman Peter Burling slipped and fell as he was changing sides.
Burling recovered quickly to lead Team New Zealand to a 31-second victory, leading every one of the six legs in the race.
