All paws on deck in WA training exercise
Recently, officers from the WA Detector Dog Unit and Maritime Operations and Marine Group conducted a joint training exercise that involved the boarding and searching of a vessel at sea.
Our Detector Dog Units are required to complete specialised training courses to prepare them for boarding vessels at sea. The exercise took place aboard ABF vessel Ocean Shield in Fremantle – providing a controlled environment to simulate the boarding of a commercial vessel.
Once aboard the dogs were put to work conducting search exercises ensuring they are ready to perform when operationally required.
