A team from MIT helped create an image retrieval system to find the closest matches of paintings from different artists and cultures.
A machine learning system developed at MIT was inspired by an exhibit in Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum that featured the unlikely but similar pairing of Francisco de Zurbarán’s “The Martyrdom of Saint Serapion” (left) and Jan Asselijn’s “The Threatened Swan.”
