You’d think stricter inflight safety measures would be embraced by nervous flyers amid a coronavirus pandemic, but apparently that’s not the case for everyone.
Qatar Airways have unveiled a series of extreme new safety measures in response to the pandemic, including a new rule that make wearing face shields mandatory but the announcement has customers divided.

Flyers are to be issued with a face shield before boarding the aircraft. All economy class passengers must wear both the shield and a face mask for the duration of the flight, except when being served their meals or drinks and with the exception of children under two.
Business class passengers will get to wear the protective gear at their own discretion.

Each passenger will also receive a complimentary safety kit that contains a single-use surgical face mask, disposable powder-free gloves, and an alcohol-based hand sanitiser gel.
In addition, cabin crew will be sporting a new branded disposable protective gown on top of their regular uniforms, along with safety glasses, gloves and a face mask.
The airline announced the new measures, along with a picture of the new crew member get-up via their Instagram page on July 3, but while many online critics welcomed the airline’s commitment to safety, the pandemic outfit didn’t go down quite so well with others.
