The head of Australian power giant AGL has abruptly resigned, saying he is unable to commit to seeing through the companys plans to break up its coal- and gas-fired power stations from its wider retailing business.
Brett Redman, who has been with AGL for 15 years and CEO for the past two years, has told the board he could not make a long-term commitment to overseeing the demerger of the nations biggest and oldest energy utility and has resigned, effectively immediately.
