AFLW scraps controversial conference system, introduces ticketed matches for 2021 season

The AFLW has abandoned its controversial conference system in favour of a single ladder for the 2021 season, while matches will be ticketed for the first time in the competition’s short history.

The home-and-away season, to be contested across nine rounds, will start on January 28, with the full fixture list to be released on Friday.

The conference system was introduced in 2019 and resulted in some weak teams making the finals.
