A 57-year-old man has died after a tree branch fell on his pergola, with the local council now facing questions over its handling of complaints about the tree before the tragedy.

Emergency services were called to the house on Amanda Drive in Surrey Downs just after 9:00pm, after the limb crashed down onto the home’s pergola.
The man died at the scene.
Another man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with minor injuries.
