Since the 1950s, Africanized honey bees have spread throughout North and South America until they appear to have stalled in California and northern Argentina. Now, genome sequencing of hundreds of bees on the north and south borders shows a gradual decline in African ancestry over hundreds of kilometers rather than an abrupt shift.
