ACCC boss puts energy retailers on notice as wholesale prices fall – The Sydney Morning Herald
Competition regulator Rod Sims has warned energy retailers must pass on the sharp falls in wholesale electricity prices to their customers.

I know the energy companies, some of them are in a bit of financial stress, but our interest is in making sure the consumers get that benefit. Its a big issue for us.
In a wide-ranging speech in Sydney, Mr Sims also put forward the case for reforming Australias merger laws, which he said were skewed towards deals being approved.
Mr Sims said the courts tended to focus on what would happen without a merger proceeding, but this issue was open to manipulation and risked overlooking the fact that mergers…
