About 480 coronavirus cases are expected to be confirmed on Tuesday, the Herald Sun understands.
The Victorian government is expected to make an announcement later on Tuesday.
The new numbers would break the previous daily increase record of 428 from last Friday.
It comes as Worksafe is probing an outbreak of coronavirus at a Melbourne law firm after concerns were raised about staff working from the office instead of at home.
