A year after Black Summer fires there’s progress on the road to pasture recovery for East Gippsland farmers
Farmers in East Gippsland are still working to restore lost pastures more than a year on from the Black Summer bushfires.

More than half of the East Gippsland local government area, or 1.1 million hectares, was burnt in the bushfires. At least 2,800 kilometres of fencing was burnt in East Gippsland and its farmers lost 1,500 head of livestock.
Farmers across Victoria and interstate must now replace the lost stock, but also need to be able to feed them.
