A would-be wildlife trafficker has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment to be served as an intensive corrections order for attempting to illegally import 21 hatching eggs into Australia, following a successful investigation by Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment investigators.

It was a noisy sock that led to this eggs-cellent result, with Australian Border Force officers at Sydney International Airport suspecting that the Sydney man, who was returning from South Africa, had the hatching eggs concealed in his socks, as one of them was making a sound.
