A Sunburnt Christmas star Daniel Henshall and director Christiaan Van Vuuren on finally giving Aussies a local festive film – Nine

There’s no shortage of Christmas films, but when it comes to Australian-made and set holiday movies, there are so few you could probably count them all on your right hand.
And of the small number that exist the standouts are probably just Bush Christmas with Nicole Kidman in 1983 and Crackers with Peter Rowsthorn in 1998.
Now new film A Sunburnt Christmas will help fill that gaping hole in the market, and it’s something lead actor Daniel Henshall is thrilled about.
