The former Panther scored twice inside the first 12 minutes and has put the pressure on the Tigers’ former captain after a pre-season rout of Manly.
Laurie, 21, is emblematic of what coach Michael Maguire has been chasing for a few years: depth to create selection headaches. Moses Mbye was the frontrunner for the fullback jersey until Laurie boarded a bus for Tamworth and a pre-season camp.
