A man has been charged after 50.3 tonnes of tobacco from an illegal tobacco crop was seized during an operation in NSW by the ABF led Illicit Tobacco Taskforce, Australian Taxation Office and NSW Police Force.
It had a potential excise value of more than $9.9 million. Industrial equipment used in the growing and manufacturing of illicit tobacco was also found at the property.Members of the public should know that if they purchase illicit tobacco, in any form, they are committing a crime and can face prosecution.
