A-League 2020-21: Australia mulling bold bid to host AFC Champions League hub to avoid disruption to domestic season for Sydney FC, Melbourne City, Brisbane Roar – Sydney Morning Herald
As many as 19 of Asia’s best football teams could fly into the country if ambitious plans to bring the AFC Champions League’s group stage to Australia come off.
The AFC was due to call for bidding invitations from interested nations and send out details around what would be required to host the ACLs group stage following Wednesday nights draw, which saw Sydney FC placed in Group H alongside Korean champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, J.League runners-up Gamba Osaka and Singapore Premier League powerhouse Tampines Rovers.
