When writer Jack Thorne was charged with updating Frances Hodgson Burnett’s 1911 classic, he was struck by how brave a piece of fiction it was.
Those cold moorland winds prove bracingly restorative. Left to her own devices, Mary roams the grounds and discovers the walled-up garden of the title.
