Andrew Abdo has officially been given the nod as NRL chief executive, with ALRC chair Peter V’landys giving him a glowing endorsement.
Gallop wouldnt divulge the specifics of what was discussed over lattes in the Entertainment Quarter, but their meeting was a timely one. Abdo, who was officially unveiled as CEO on Thursday, slated the NRLs desire to slash $50 million in operating costs, an urgent financial reset prompted by the coronavirus outbreak. When Gallop took on the role in 2002, he had a staff of less than 50. That number didn’t swell much beyond 80 when he left a decade later.
