An investigation is underway to determine why viral fragments of COVID-19 have been found in a sample of a major Queensland tourist towns sewage.
The sewage from the Cannonvale-Airlie Beach treatment plant in the Whitsunday region has been deemed COVID-positive in testing by the University of Queensland, Queensland Health and the CSIRO.
A pop-up virus clinic has opened at Airlie Beach on Thursday as a precaution.
