Children need extensive testing to identify ‘silently shedding’ COVID-19 – ClickLancashire
New research suggests that children can shed SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, even if they never develop symptoms or for long after symptoms have cleared.
For the study, researchers examined 91 children under the age of 19 who were tested positive for the virus and were isolated or hospitalised across 22 centres in South Korea between February and March. They were children with no sign of corona infection.
