France’s new COVID-19 infections surged almost 50 per cent in August, producing the highest monthly tally since the beginning of the pandemic, while hospitalisations again seem to be rising.
Authorities reported 3082 additional cases over the 24 hours to Monday, sharply down from a caseload above 5000 on the two previous days but the figure always dips with fewer tests conducted on Sundays.
