Xiaomi has been working for the under-display camera for quite a good amount of time. The under-display camera is not a whole new concept, there had been a couple of devices experimenting with the new tech, even for Xiaomi. Devices like the ZTE Axon 20 5G are already ready to announce the tech to the world. The tech was there but the functionality was not quite finished.
